diaper rash with cloth diapers

No one likes a rash. No one likes repelling diapers. So when your little one gets a rash or you simply want to prevent them what are you to use?

Most “regular” diaper rash creams are not cloth diaper safe. This means that they create a barrier on the inner material and cause the diaper to repel instead of absorb moisture.

How to treat diaper rash with coconut oil

Coconut oil
is a natural, and effective, way to help prevent future diaper rashes. You’ll want to get yourself a jar of cold-pressed or virgin coconut oil, preferably organic. Coconut oil is extremely versatile and can be used for cooking, moisturizer, or even soap. If you’re using cloth diapers it will wash right out, unlike typical diaper creams containing zinc that cause them to repel instead of absorb.

how to treat diaper rash

First, know which type of diaper rash your baby has. Bacterial infections may cause yellowish bumps and fluid-filled bumps, sores with pus, and a honey crusted area on the baby's bottom. A yeast rash will be bright red, with small red pimples that radiate out from the border of the rash. You'll also see redness in the folds and creases of the baby's skin. A rash that's caused by irritation from pee and poop will mostly be confined to the diaper area.

Earth Mama Angel Baby Angel Baby Bottom Balm

I love this stuff. It's all natural so I know it is safe for my daughter's butt. It usually takes care of my daughter's diaper rash within 24 hours. I also use it to take the itch out of bug bites in the summer.

diaper rash:Boudreaux's Butt Paste

We have twins and go through a lot of diaper cream. We've tried everything out there, and this is the one we keep coming back to. It's been great about keeping diaper rash away, it smells pretty good (compared to the medicine smell of most of the other brands) and it's pretty cheap. The only product I like better is the Burt's Bees stuff, but it's way too expensive.

diaper rash:BOUDREAUX'S BUTT PASTE TUBE

I used this stuff on my babies when they had diaper rash. It works, not necessarily better than other diaper rash meds, but it works just fine, and it has natural ingredients.

diaper rash:Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment Dr. Smith's

Mommy and I have used this on our son's bottom since he was a few months old after our pediatrician recommended it. We squeeze out 1 or 2 centimeters onto a finger and apply it each night. He is still in diapers at 27 months and we still use it every night after bath and before bed. He rarely gets a rash. When he does get a rash, Dr. smith's typically clears it up overnight. Very rarely it has taken up to three overnights to clear up a very bad rash.

A+D Original Ointment: Diaper Rash and All-Purpose Skincare Formula

Read a lot of reviews before selecting AD ointment for my first baby since I buy in US and then have to haul everything back to Asia, I don't want to waste money or weight in my luggage hauling back bad products! I have used AD w every diaper change since baby arrived home and have had no sign of any rash despite living in a very hot and humid country. Would highly recommend.

diaper rash:A&D Ointment

We tried everything with our daughter, nothing helped. All of the white creams (butt paste, desitin) did no good. We tried a&d original and saw tremendous improvement. It creates a barrier that allows the tushie to heal while also preventing further irritation. It's thick and essentially it's like using petrlolium jelly. It has a light smell, not sweet but not medicinal. Give it a try, you'll be investing in the large tub before you finish the first tube! (BTW: the large tub is a much better deal.)

Grandma El's Diaper Rash Remedy and Prevention

This product did get rid of my daughter's diaper rash after the very first, and only, application. It is just as amazing as everyone says. However, I never would have bought it had I been able to read the list of ingredients (which I didn't do until after the one application). It contains petrolatum. I do not use anything on my baby (or myself) that contains petroleum byproducts. This is a personal preference, which is why I still gave the product five stars.

Diaper Rash & Thrush Relief

I was given two small samples by the lactation consultant at my pedi yesterday. This is my third child and thanks to inverted nipples and a baby with severe reflux have always had problems with sore, cracked, bleeding nipples. These problems arise despite over 3 years of breastfeeding and numerous consultants in the US and UK confirming that my babies are latching appropriately. I just have really dry skin prone to eczema, and have troubles even when not breastfeeding.

Weleda Calendula Diaper Care

After desitin and many other creams either stinging my sons bum or just not clearing up a diaper rash, someone recommended Weleda to me. I was blown away by the price and the amount in one tube. But it is by far worth it! Clears rash up so, so fast and never stings. I have gotten it for almost 50% off on amazon too, so keep a lookout for when it is on sale and stock up!

Desitin Rapid Relief Creamy

This is a great option in winter, when there is little diaper rash. The cream feels cool on the baby's skin and also wipes off easily when changing the diaper. This is certainly good enough for cooler weather.

Baby Bee Diaper Ointment

This diaper cream is one of the best on the market; it is also one of the more expensive ones so Amazon does offer a decent price for this when on sale. I highly recommend this cream because it's nice and thick, has the skin protectant zinc oxide, smells herbal (pretty strong smell, though, if you do not like this, take note), keeps her dry and has protected my baby's bottom since she was 2 weeks old with excellent results. We have not had one episode of diaper rash. My neighbor had recommended this cream to me, stating that her daughter had a horrible diaper rash and after many trials with other creams, this one worked the best: diaper rash all gone. I would have to agree with her that it's fantastic, and I personally recommend it to others as well. It is thick, and will spread easily when it warms up on the baby's bottom.

Triple Paste Medicated Ointment for Diaper Rash

Triple Paste saved my daughter's behind, literally! We were using Butt Paste on her for overnight diaper changes and it seemed okay. But when she developed a bad diaper rash, the butt paste wasn't cutting it. Took her to the pediatrician after the rash was only getting worse, and he recommended the triple paste. It goes on nice and thick and spreads well. Her rash seemed better after the first application and it had made a huge difference by the next day. Definitely recommend it to any parents whose babies are prone to diaper rash.

Desitin Maximum Strength Paste

I've used a few other diaper creams and ointments. This is the one I like the best so far. A small amount goes a long way to cover up areas that should be covered. It also cleared up existing rash very quickly.

Aveeno Baby Diaper Rash Cream

I have 3 children and nothing I have ever tried works as well as this diaper cream. All of my kids have sensitive skin. Many of the other diaper creams can irritate a rash and make it worse. This cream doesn't do that and can clear it up in just a few applications. Highly recommended.

Triple Paste Medicated Ointment for Diaper Rash

I had a really bad irritation on the back of my knee and ended up using the paste on it. I had remembered it from when our kids were younger. I put it on before I went to bed and by the time I woke up the irritation and redness was almost non-existant. I would recommend this anyway for diaper rash on babies but I would also recommend it for adults as well.

best treatment for diaper rash

What is the best treatment for diaper rash? I change my daughter often and wipe her well, but...?
... she still gets rashes. We're using diaper rash ointment; what is the best brand?

Treating a Yeast Diaper Rash

The best treatment for a yeast diaper rash is to treat it for what it is. It is a fungal infection. Several over-the-counter (OTC) antifungal treatments have been used successfully in treating this type of diaper rash.

What Causes a Yeast Diaper Rash?

Yeast is normally found on the skin of all humans and tends to be more heavily concentrated in moist areas. If the skin breaks even a tiny bit, these fungal invaders could get in there and develop into an infection. The most common type of yeast to cause a diaper rash is Candida albicans.

What Does a Diaper Rash With Yeast Infection Look Like?

The signs and symptoms of a yeast diaper rash can include:

Raised, red bumps that look like a case of the chickenpox or poison ivy
Little blister-like bumps typically found in sprawling clusters on the skin covered by a diaper
The rash may also be found in the skin folds between the thighs and body or the genitals and thighs
Due to the discomfort of the rash, your baby may become irritable and cry more often than usual.

Children with a yeast diaper rash may also have a history of diarrhea, recent use of antibiotics, or oral thrush.

What Is a Yeast Diaper Rash?

Yeast diaper rash, or candidal dermatitis, is an infectious type of diaper rash. If your baby's rash has become infected, 9 times out of 10, it has become a yeast diaper rash. This type of rash can be particularly irritating and difficult to tackle.

How Can a Yeast Diaper Rash Be Treated?

I am pretty sure that my baby's diaper rash is actually a yeast infection. Must I take him to see the pediatrician or can I treat a yeast diaper rash at home?
Answer:

Yeast Diaper Rash Treatment

Yeast diaper rash (known medically as candidal dermatitis) is an infectious type of diaper rash. Going from a simple diaper rash to a diaper rash with a yeast infection can happen within a few days. The overgrowth of yeast is a fairly common result of a simple diaper rash that has gotten worse due to lack of treatment or the rash not responding well to the applied treatment(s).
